In Meelick Primary School we have very caring and talented children.
We are delighted to have been named National County Champions in the Someone Like Me Art Competition for the second year running. Someone Like Me is an Art Competition which promotes disability awareness among primary school pupils. Through a range of resources and activities, this competition enables pupils to understand that even though we might have different abilities, we’re all similar. In 2022-2023 1st and 2nd class were named the Clare Junior Category winners with their entry Give Difference a Hug. They explained that in their class, they have a range of learning and medical needs. During their class discussion they spoke about how we are all different and how it is this difference that makes us special and unique. Instead of excluding people for their differences, we embrace it and give it a hug.
In 2023-2024 3rd and 4th class were named the Clare Senior Category winners and were announced the Overall National Winners of the competition on the day. The children created a book displaying visible and invisible differences within the class.
