Ready Set Go Maths:
In Junior and Senior Infants an exciting programme called ‘Ready Set Go Maths’ has been running very successfully for the last number of years. This is a hands-on programme where children work in groups using concrete materials and playing maths games to consolidate learning. The pupils enjoy these new methodologies and materials, the level of engagement is very high, and the resulting understanding of mathematical concepts is greatly enhanced.
Station teaching in maths is also ongoing 1st / 2nd classes. Teachers target areas of difficulty and provide many opportunities for children to work in small groups using concrete materials and play specifically targeted games to reinforce learning of specific areas. This is a follow-on from Ready Set Go Maths at infant level.
These initiatives encompass the very latest and widest variety of teaching methodologies and resources available, providing an excellent learning environment for our pupils.
