We are very proud of the broad range of our sporting activities in Meelick Primary School.
We participate in the Cumann na mBunscol hurling, camogie and football tournaments every year. We have an excellent relationship with our local GAA club, and we benefit from their coaching expertise.
We also participate in touch rugby blitzes, through our links with the IRFU and in Spikeball tournaments through collaboration with Volleyball Ireland.
We have a large bank of sports equipment to which we add every year.
Our school participates in swimming lessons annually at Grove Island Leisure Centre, from which our pupils derive great enjoyment and a very valuable life skill.
The Physical Education (PE) is for children from junior infants to sixth class. The curriculum contributes to children’s overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives.
The PE curriculum provides a balanced range of activities for children through the six strands:
Athletics
Dance
Gymnastics
Games
Outdoor and adventure activities
Aquatics
